Hardware inventory lifecycle tracking
IT teams manually maintain hardware inventory in Excel spreadsheets (often with names like 'FINAL_v17_REALLY_FINAL_v4.xlsx'), tracking asset lifecycles, revisions, and states. Ghost assets and 'Unknown' lifecycle states persist because updates are manual, unreliable, and disconnected from deployment/monitoring systems.
